Context is one of the most useful architectural modules for Drupal. Context works by setting conditions such as a path or a node type and, if that condition is present, reactions such as adding blocks to regions or setting an active menu.

Context comes with a number of useful conditions and reactions. But what if you need something more specific? Context offers a well-built API that makes creating your own conditions and reactions a relatively painless procedure. The API is well documented but hopefully this example will be useful for some folks.

I recently designed and through together a site for Sherrie Cohen for her campaign for a Philadelphia City Council at Large seat.

I can't remember when I first met Sherrie, it has been a long time now, but I most recently worked with her during the campaign to save the libraries and essential city services back in 08/09: http://coalitiontosavethelibraries.blogspot.com .

I support Sherrie because she is true to her motto as tireless "warrior for economic and social justice." I look forward to see her mix it up this campaign season and to a victory next Spring.

Thanks to the folks from UW and Brazen who helped put together DrupalCamp Wisconsin in Madison this past Friday and Saturday. There were over a hundred folks in attendance, great sessions, and Drupal cupcakes!

Here are the slides from my presentations:

I've had a lot of fun today at the Chicago Drupal Jam: http://jam.cdmug.org/

The event featured 7 Drupal 7 presentations. It has been a while since I've fired up Drupal 7 and have to say I'm pretty excited. I think Drupal 7 is really going to blow people away. Especially the Wordpress / Joomla holdouts who love those packages' UIs and bemoan Drupal's. Drupal 7 'out of the box' looks really slick. And under the hood there are some exciting changes.

A couple of notes from the day.

Q: When Will Drupal 7 Be Release?

A: Answer (From Crell), 'When it is Ready'!

I worked most of this weekend, b/w a poetry reading, a piano bar, getting a good run in and hanging out w/ rjs, on updating the Drupaldelphia theme.

I wanted to add a feed of all of my friends tweets from Twitter. Twitter provides the feed but hides it behind (it seems like htaccess) password protection. The friend feed isn't available yet in the Drupal Twitter module: http://drupal.org/node/690658 (the patch looks fine but I couldn't get the 6--3 dev version to save any user data). I wanted a quick solution and didn't have time to debug that growing module. What to do?

I found here: http://snippets.dzone.com/posts/show/7336 that you just need to use the following:

One of the things I've been playing around with in the last six months is my SEO ranking. The terms I've been most interested in are myself "Aaron Couch" (I'm so modest) and "Drupal Philadelphia". Zivtech of coures dominates the latter, but this is something I've just had fun playing with.

We are very excited to announce the launch of the DCTV and Beyond Bullets websites.

DCTV is a very cool media arts center based in New York. DCTV's firehouse was home to Democracy Now and currently trains 2,000 students a year. The relatively small organization can boast to winning 15 Emmy awards!
